Arnaud’s functional art continuously rewires the codes held towards abandoned construction materials. Through appropriating industrial left-overs and forsaken materials of urban lifeworlds, Arnaud reorients our current relationship to waste by reconfiguring it into novel design furniture. The exhibition ‘My Homies’ presents a symbolic replication of Arnaud’s personal apartment in Brussels, fully composed of furniture made by the artist himself. ‘My Homies’ interrogates the essence of home and wonders if desolated materials can contribute to the sensibility of home and belonging. Intersecting habitation with abandonment, Arnaud’s installation assembles an idealistic dwelling in a dystopian time, in which future wasteland ecologies force us to find the affects of home in new ways.
