Rock Steady is a series of lightings that I produced in the context of a new residency programme organised by the Parpaing team in Roubaix. The invitation allowed me to spend two weeks of researches to generate new object in their storage full of materials rescued from demolition . My main focus was on the use of batches of components that are complex to recycle on their own, with no added value.
These 4 lamps are made up of bluestone from the LaM museum in Villeneuve d'Ascq, slabs of shale from the demolition of an apartment block, spotlights from a former lighting showroom and hotel room, threaded rods used in false ceilings and door handles from a former student residence.
What attracted me to these new associations was the contrasting relationship generated by the timelessness of these stones and the supposed technical and aesthetic obsolescence of these spotlights.
