The flexible PVC used for the seat and backrest of this chair is a product often used in homes to protect the tops of dining tables or coffee tables. After several years of repeated washing with detergents and exposure to ultraviolet light, this type of plastic turns yellowish but keep its softness. People therefore discard it because it no longer looks clean, and in Brussels, people often leave it directly on the pavements. Once I have shaped the PVC into a wave form, this material offers the user a certain level of comfort as well as a surprise in terms of its flexibility. The two tubes assembled in a cross shape that form the base of the seat can come from table, bed, shelve. The final element is the threaded rods, a generic means of assembly that I use in many of my creations, which allow the heterogeneous elements that make up the object to be easily assembled, disassembled and adjusted.
