  • This sculpture takes the form of a section of wall, a piece of façade. It incorporates a screen. The screen displays a panorama of images of Liège, controlled by a motion detector capable of detecting human presence in the room and the direction of movement. The closer you get to the screen, the slower the images scroll until they freeze. "Liège is a city that inspires me. I have been photographing it for over five years now. Its history, heritage and textures are all factors that give it a unique atmosphere. A multitude of often insignificant details define its DNA. My installation for Art Public Liège highlights these details. It questions our environment, its peculiarities, its tendency towards disorder and reorganisation. I also thought about the meaning that a presence detector diverted from its use as a surveillance device or a screen positioned in a public space can have when it is not displaying advertising or practical information.
